Cloud Computing Consortium Conference a Big Success The conference, our inaugural event, was held on November 7th at the Wesley J. Howe Center on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. This full day event featured speakers and panels providing the latest leadership and management thinking about cloud computing. Our keynote speakers, Frank Kovacs and Amr Ahmed from Ernst & Young provided an excellent set of fundamental information explaining cloud computing. Our working groups reported their findings and recommendations in the areas of Value Proposition & Business Economics, Strategies, and Governance. Additionally, attorney Matthew Karlyn of Foley & Lardner, LLP spoke about risk management and what organizations need to do to protect themselves, their data and their intellectual property when operating in the cloud.
Over 100 people attended, including CEOs and CIOs as well as executives from management consulting and service provider organizations. Feedback about the event was extremely positive with a number of attendees commenting about the new information they learned. For C3 members, the presentations and working groups’ reports are available for downloading from the Members Only area of this website.
Three New Working Groups Provide Status Updates Three of the Cloud Computing Consortium's working groups provide updates on their progress to date. Change Management and Culture Working Group with Keith Chappell of Altira Strategic Partners as the team leader, Service Level Management with Mike Brophy of AT&T and IT Processes with John Fcasni talk about their purposes and their work leading up to publishing their respective Scope and Issues documents. This document will serve as the roadmap for their next phase which is research, analysis and preparing their executive focused reports.
The working groups are examining what impact cloud computing will have in their respective areas. Part of this examination lies in identifying the net business and IT changes needed and creating an analysis report. Findings and recommendations will include the steps that business and IT should do in each of these areas to maximize the benefits that cloud computing can bring to their organizations.
The working groups will present their findings at C3’s June 2012 conference.
Cloud Computing Consortium Announces 2012 Conferences and Mini-Sessions Schedule C3 has just released its 2012 events schedule. The schedule includes two full day conferences and six 2.5 hour mini-session briefings, which will be a mix of breakfast and later afternoon/evening sessions. The mix of events should have broad appeal and it allows people who cannot devote a full day to a conference to participate in our shorter min-session briefings.
